Shrimps Chilly Fry



  • 750 gms regular shrimp
  • 5-6 tbsp coconut oil
  • 1 tbsp mustard seed
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seed

Marinating masala paste:

  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp malvani chilly powder*
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tbsp white vinegar
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt as desired


  1. Clean, peel and wash the shrimp in lukewarm water. Keep it aside in a colander for 1/2 an hour so that most of the water has drained off;
  2. In anothe bowl, mix all the ingredients under the marinating masala paste and make a smooth thick paste;
  3. Apply this paste to the shrimp and keep it aside for atleast an hour;
  4. In a pan, heat coconut oil on medium flame;
  5. Add mustard seed and after it splutters add cumin seeds;
  6. Now add the marinated shrimps and allow it to cook on medium flame till the shrimp colour changes from translucent to opaque;
  7. Remove from fire and serve with Toor Dal (Pigeon Pea) with Mint or Mixed Dal (Split L​entils) and bread or roti or plain rice.
