Pan Fried Sardines


  • 12 sardines

Ingredients for marination:

  • 1 & 1/2 tbsp yogurt
  • 1 tbsp crushed garlic
  • 1 tbsp crushed ginger
  • 2 & 1/2 tsp malvani or chilly powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 4 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 & 1/2 tbsp onion powder

Ingredients for frying:

  • 1 cup semolina (rava)
  • 1/2 cup rice flour
  • Oil as required


  • Clean and wash the fish. Keep it aside for around 15 minutes to drain all excess water
  • Mix all ingredients under marination into a smooth paste and apply generously on the fish

  • Mix semolina and rice flour and gently coat the marinated fish with this mixture and pan fry it immediately. Don’t keep it coated too long otherwise it will become soggy.

Your fish is now ready. Enjoy with beer and papadam.
